Junior Short Stop Mark McMahon was selected to the 2010 Division 5 All-CIF team according to a press release on June 21 by the California Interscholastic Federation Southern Section office. The three year letterman was a also a 1st Team All League selection for the Lancers leading his team in hitting en route to a school’s best 21-5 season and a #6 CIF ranking.
McMahon’s prowess with the glove anchored a very strong Western Christian defense. While in pursuit of locking down a 3rd consecutive league championship, he had a streak of 55 errorless innings over the course of 8 games. Down the stretch he committed a meager 3 errors in the midst of a 14 game winning streak and he only committed an astonishing 8 errors in 26 games bolstering a .910 fielding percentage.
Offensively McMahon led the Lancers in hitting with a .511 batting average breaking the school record with 47 hits. He compiled 13 doubles, 4 triples, 3 home runs, 36 RBI’s and 34 runs scored. In 21 of 26 games he hit safely including finishing the season on an 8 game hitting streak. McMahon had 15 multi hit games including a stretch of 9 games in a row and in 101 plate appearances he only struck out 2 times.
