Reading of Minutes:

November minutes reviewed silently and approved.

Treasurer’s Report:

Due to technical difficulties with the computer, no treasurer’s report was available.  Approximately $4000 was in the Booster account at that time.

Team Reports:

Varsity Basketball Liaison Report (Anjie Hyde):

Co-captain Andrew Hyde suffered a torn ACL during the first game, and so unfortunately will be out for the season.  The team experienced seven losses, then three consecutive wins.  Michael Broad and Mark McMahon are having a great season.  The second place Lancers will travel to Aquinas Tuesday and Calvary Chapel Murrietta this Friday.

Girls Basketball Liaison Report:

None.

Boys Soccer Report:

None.

Girls Soccer Report (Rita Moreno):

Rita reported briefly on the great group of girls and the season.

Old Business:

Christmas Tree Sale Report:

Beth Pujol presented the Christmas Tree Sale report.  The profit made to date was $1875.56.  Some additional funds are trickling in.  The sales winners were:

Week One Sales:  Itali Andrade                                 In N Out, $50

Week Two Sales:  Anna Pujol                                    In N Out, $50

Week Three Sales:  Evan Hibbard                              In N Out, $50

Overall Sales, 1st place:  Anna Pujol                          V.G., $100

Overall Sales, 2nd place:  Evan Hibbard                    In N Out, $50

Overall Sales, 3rd place:  Paige Oldham                     Starbucks, $25

Top Selling Team:  Girls Soccer, Coach Mylar           In N Out, $50

Awards were presented at various chapels.

It was suggested that for next year, we have a drill available to drill holes in the bottom of the trees to help them fit into the stands.

Mr. Meister commented on how fresh and lovely the trees actually were, and that knowing that, they will be easier to sell next year.

Brick Program:

There was a discussion on how to sell the bricks.  Mr. Meister suggested the a real phone bank  be set up at WCHS to make calls to sell bricks.  (No bricks were sold during the phone campaign that volunteers did from their homes.)   Hopefully, a group effort would foster synergy.

A table at graduation was suggested, thinking that perhaps grandparents would buy a brick for their graduate.  Parents of seniors are pretty strapped with all the extra expenses of having a senior.  This would need to be discussed with administration.

Snack Bar Sign-ups:

This winter season has been difficult in staffing the snack bar.  Several games have not had a snack bar due to a lack of volunteers.

The end of basketball season will be the end of Mrs. McMahon’s very dedicated snack bar service.  Boosters needs another volunteer to take over.  The duties involved are:

  • set up schedule
  • plan a menu
  • shop for the food
  • cook and deliver the food, and instruct volunteers

New Business:

Cheer Competitions:

Cheer will not participate in competition this year.

Winter Athletic Program:

  • Mr. Karavedas received no feedback on the winter program.
  • Mrs. Mizell is back at school, so she will have less time to work on a program.
  • Mrs. Hyde said that basketball would be interested in buying pages in the program for $100.
  • Mr. Mizell requested that the team liaisons send an email to parents to ask them about their interest level in a program.

Winter Meet the Teams:

The first Winter Meet the Teams ever will occur on Sat. Jan. 22nd.

  • Per Mr. Karavedas, the coaches prefer a morning event.
  • It will be outside, because a city league is using the gym on Saturdays.
  • Kids could presell food tickets for $5 each.
  • 4 basketball and 2 soccer teams to introduce.
  • Sundaes will be auctioned off as in the past.
  • Cheer will be there.
  • Mr. Karavedas will contact Mrs. Roggeman about providing the sundaes.
  • To get spectators involved, sell tickets for ½ court shots, small goal shots for soccer, with prizes .  ½ the pot or a TV/DVD (donated) were discussed as possibilities.

Winter Senior Game:

Will occur on Tuesday, February 8th.

Cow Chip/Spring Meet the Teams:

  • Will occur on Sat., March 26th
  • Will do the cow chip fundraiser
  • Mr. Karavedas will check on field availability for alumni games of baseball and softball.
  • Mr. Mizell suggested having an 80/20 split between teams and Boosters for SMTT income.
  • Cost for cows is about $425.

Golf Tournament:

We still have no chairperson for the golf tournament.  We have a date at Sierra Lakes in April.  We could also do a fall tournament.  The chairperson should have previous experience, because the job is quite involved in getting sponsors, etc.  Mr. Mizell and Mr. Oldham to talk about whether he could chair the event.

Closing Prayer:

Rob Meister closed the meeting in prayer.

Minutes prepared by Beth Pujol, February 4, 2011.
