WESTERN CHRISTIAN BOOSTER
MEETING MINUTES MAY 10, 2010
7:00 p.m. meeting called to order
Board Members in Attendance
BOARD IN ATTENDANCE
Brian Mizell, Mary Mizell, Frankie Marcucci, Eloise Donate, Mark Gabbard, Kathy Scheenstra, Laura Ikenberry, Jeanie Pandzic and Beth Pujol.
Call to Order: Brian called meeting to order at 7:00 pm and opened in prayer.
Correction in April Minutes: Bruce did not open in prayer. Wayne Rorex and Dawn Pierini approved the minutes.
Treasurer’s Report: Eloise presented the treasurer’s report and the balance in the general fund account. Each team’s fundraising earnings was presented. There needs to be a correction for the spring bunco.
LIAISON’S REPORT
SOFTBALL:
The team is a 100% better this year than last year. More hits this year than the last three years. They are 2 and 6 in league. Senior game is Tuesday and they have five seniors graduating.
BASEBALL:
They are 3rd time league champs. Last game is Thursday against Aquinas. Their record is 18 and 4 and they are ranked 10th in their division. Troy Brown got a grand slam. CJ Beatty had a great game and a home run.
TRACK:
They did great. Boys made league CIF. Next meet Saturday. Large group made it, 9 of them. 1st league champs since 1998.
GOLF:
Michael Broad is advancing to CIF. They did a great job.
OLD BUSINESS:
COW CHIP:
It’s done for this year. Thanks to Julie for all her hard work. If we decide to do cow chip next year Julie mentioned that there is a possibility to get free cows as long as we do it after the 2nd week in April.
SILENT AUCTION:
Our school silent auction is May 15 at Claremont campus. This is an adult only event. This includes both schools. All money made by the high school will go towards the sports field. This year we only are auctioning two senior parking spots. There will be 5,000.00 off of tuition opportunity raffle.
SPRING SPORTS AD:
They are $10.00. We have ten left. It is in color. We only ordered 25 of them.
CHEER TRY OUTS:
They will be held on May 27, 2010.
NEW BUSINESS FUNDRAISING FOR 2010/2011 SEASON:
1.FIREWORKS:
Still waiting for approval from city, we will know by Monday.
2.ATHLETIC PROGRAM:
There will be one program with all the sports teams put in it. We will be putting in inserts for all teams to get in the program. Not a lot of money was made in Spring for the programs.
3.APPAREL:
Order on line and then it will be delivered to you. Checks need to go to Janet Walton.
4.CONCESSIONS-50/50 (FALL AND WINTER GAMES)
5.FALL COMMUNITY YARD SALE
Yard sale parcels will be available for $30.00. You get two parking spots for this price. Each team will get all money made from the yard sale. Money will be collected at end of the day by Janet. Boosters will be doing snack barl. New date for yard sale will be September 25, 2010.
SPRING BANQUET:
The previous two were great. There will be a DVD slideshow.
TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS:
We have two new board members, Jeanie Pandzic and Beth Pujol. Jeanie will be our co-treasurer and Beth will be our alumni coordinator. They both have been at Western for many years and both have kids entering the high school.
Brian asked if there are any questions. There were none.
Brian prayed.
