Opening Prayer:
Robert Meister opened the meeting with prayer at 7:09 pm.

Reading of Minutes:
No reading of minutes.

Treasurer’s Report:
Jeanne Pandzic and Eloise Donante set up a new accounting system.

Team Reports:

Football Liaison Report (Lisa Bader):

It’s the end of the season; they are getting ready for the fall sports banquet on Dec. 13.

Brian asked if anyone in the room wanted to work with Mr. Karavedas in helping to think of different ways to bring more athletes into the school.  He specifically stated that we could not actively do anything without Mr. Karavedas, as CIF rules were very strict, and only he would know what those rules were.  No one volunteered for the position of AD Liaison.

Volleyball Report (Alex Cordero):

It was a great season.

  • Varsity lost the 2nd round in CIF to Campbell Hall.
  • It was a growth year, with the addition of a freshman team.

Cheer Liaison Report:

None

Cross Country Liaison Report (Vickie Meister):

The team did not make CIF, but still had a great season.

Old Business:

Christmas Tree Sale Report:

Beth’s Report:

Sales have been VERY slow.
16 trees, 1 tree stand, 13 wreaths, and 52 feet of garland sold.
Itali Andrade was our first week’s winner, with $195 in sales.
Anna Pujol was our second week’s winner, with $642.50 in sales.
Frosh Volleyball is in the lead so far as the top selling team.

Last week, Jeanne Pandzic and Beth Pujol put together a presentation for chapel to get the troops rallied.   Mr. Coulter presented our Power Point slide show.  It seemed to have a positive outcome, and Itali was awarded her $50 In N Out gift card there.

This week’s to do list:

  • Have 2nd week top seller presented with gift card award at chapel.
  • Another email blast to remind parents/students about final turn-in day.
  • Heather Celaya will check with Mrs. Browning this week about a booth at little Western on Wednesday, the day before their two days off.  If we can do it, she will be in charge.
  • We need a volunteer(s) to sell trees in the parking lot drive through (with permission from Mr. Yovino).

Beth’s  recommendation at this point is to cut our pick up day to ½ day (10-2?) and drop the booth(s), as so far, not enough trees have been sold to justify making a big day of it.

Randy Wood’s (of Wood Mountain Christmas Trees) Report and Group Discussion:

  • Randy spoke about his fundraiser; is surprised that a school of our size isn’t doing well; that specific goals are needed; trees are something people buy anyway.
  • If we meet the 125 minimum tree order (that gives us free delivery), Randy Wood will sign up for a foursome at the golf tournament this spring.
  • After some discussion about how we know the quality of the trees, Brian Mizell stated that Boosters will give people their money back if they are not satisfied with their trees.
  • Anjie Hyde, Maria Dunlap and Lisa Bader expressed concern about what the money will be used for from the tree sales, and that it would be more motivating if the teams got a percentage.  It was reiterated that funds will go to the Booster general fund, which in turn supplies the needs of the teams.  A disconnect seems to be happening with Boosters and the parents not realizing what Boosters has already purchased for the teams with the general funds.
  • Jeanne Pandzic spoke about community, that we work together as a school for the overall good, and that we all enjoy going to sporting events.
  • Anjie Hyde brought up a concern about basketball not being a part of the fall fundraising (yard sale and Harvest) without the coach being known of at the time.

Brick Program:
Brian Mizell asked the members:  “Why are the bricks not selling?”  One member said that parents want an in-between price (between $175 and $500).  Eloise pointed out that for two (2) bricks, you get an in-between price at $350.  The goal is to raise $250,000 to offset the cost of the new athletic field.

The brick campaign expenses and income will be on the treasurer’s report soon, when Jeanne and Eloise have a chance to add this to the new accounting software.

New Business:

Facilities Chair:
A Boosters equipment manager is needed to maintain: snack shack, BBQ, apparel shed, etc.

Upland Christmas Parade, Saturday, December 4th, 5pm:
Holly Wood is coordinating a WCHS presence at the parade.  It is a huge Upland event, and gives WCHS visibility.

Bless is planning a performing arts float.
Holly would like us to have a Boosters/Athletics float.

Vending Machines:
Gilbert would like to investigate Boosters taking over the vending machines at WCHS, as they are often empty, and believes it would be a good fundraiser.  They are currently operated by an outside company.

Openings on Board:
There will be several openings available this spring on the Booster Board.  Please prayerfully consider serving.

No Booster Meeting in December.

Closing Prayer:
Rob Meister closed the meeting in prayer at 9:11 pm.
