Opening Prayer:
Brian Mizell opened the meeting with prayer.
Reading of Minutes:
No reading of minutes. Minutes were to be reviewed during the meeting for acceptance.
Treasurer’s Report:
Eloise Donante presented the treasurer’s report. She reviewed the Harvest Festival and Yard Sale proceeds. The total for the Harvest festival was approximately $1000 more than last year. The breakdown for each team for the Harvest Festival will follow. The numbers were provided verbally. The report will be corrected to delete the $250 booster supplies entry, as that expected expense (safe) was cancelled.
Team Reports:
Volleyball Liaison Report (Dawn Pierini):
Varsity is in 3rd place. They will be playing Ontario Christian this week.
Cheer Liaison Report (Sheila Gustafson):
Cheer is busy this week getting ready for Homecoming. They are decorating cars and the locker rooms.
Cross Country Liaison Report (Vickie Meister):
They placed 2nd in the first league meet that was held in Moreno Valley.
There will be race at Redlands on 10/12/2010.
Football Liaison Report (Lisa Bader):
The football team did very well fundraising at the Harvest Festival, especially with sodas.
Old Business:
Yard Sale Report:
The weather was extremely hot (around 110°) and possibly kept people away, as traffic was slow. The participation of students/athletes was somewhat lacking. There were several games/tournaments that day. Some voiced that it would be nice to have storage to collect stuff to sell. The logistics of storage will be discussed for next year.
There was a discussion of getting the athletes to volunteer and be more invested to work for their equipment. It was acknowledged that too often, the parents are doing all the work.
Brick Program:
$17,000 has been made so far. There is a plan to telemarket the brick program in the next two (2) weeks. Tony Martinez will be writing a script to help the callers. The goal is to raise $250,000 to offset the cost of the new field. It was suggested to the team liaisons to consider giving each coach a brick as a remembrance (as the team gift).
Rally Bus (Frankie Marcucci):
The rally bus will leave at 5 and return at 11 for the Arrowhead game. The cost will be $5. Some players may need a ride home on the rally bus, but not a ride to the game.
Homecoming:
Two (2) gate and two (2) apparel volunteers are still needed for homecoming. Volunteers need to be there at 4:30. Festivities start at 5:30. There will be a dedication for the new field, and the Marines will come to raise the flag. Middle School athletics will be providing most of the food. Boosters will be selling water, baked goods, chicken tacos, and tri-tip. (Each athlete is requested to bring a baked good for homecoming.) The food will be sold starting at 6 pm. Mr. Matlock, the ASB director, is heading up half-time festivities. We will be playing Calvary Chapel Murrieta.
Christmas Tree Sale:
On target for the students to start selling November 1. Working on prizes for selling. There will be a tree booth at homecoming.
New Business:
Apparel:
Some new apparel has come in: hats, towels, pom poms. The apparel store will have a new home in the old container previously used for the snack bar, and will be open during school hours that are still to be determined.
Miscellaneous:
Volleyball Pack the Gym Night/Senior Game is Thursday, November 4th.
Football/Cross Country Senior Game is Friday, November 12th.
The next Booster Meeting will be November 15th.
There is an opening for Vice Chair.
The article about Christian Solis was framed and presented at the booster meeting. It is still being discussed where to place it.
Closing Prayer:
Brian Mizell closed the meeting in prayer.
Minutes prepared by Beth Pujol, October 13, 2010.
