Letter from the Director of Advancement
Dear Parents and the entire WCS Community,
Western Christian Schools is thrilled to be celebrating our 90th year in Christian education. We are proud of this 90 year legacy of fulfilling our mission to provide a Christ centered community that integrates faith and quality education. By now you should have received an invitation to the Legacy Annual Celebration Dinner taking place at the Pomona Valley Mining Company on Saturday November 13th at 6:00pm. On behalf of the school, I wanted to send out this note to encourage you to attend and help you understand the value of this event.
This anniversary would be impossible to celebrate if not for the dedication and commitment of the numerous generations who have financially supported this mission in order to provide the best for their children. “Christ-centered community” is at the heart of Western Christian’s mission and the advancement of this school is dependent on the continued support of the entire community. At this year’s Legacy Celebration dinner, we want to come together to celebrate our 90 year history and raise funds for the progression of our mission.
This summer our administrative team strategically developed a fourfold vision rooted in the mission and core values of the school:
Teacher Retention |
To retain highly qualified and teachers |
Spiritual Development |
To see Christ-centered transformation in the lives of our students |
Viable Enrollment |
To enhance the sustainability of enrollment through growth |
Maximize Facilities |
To demonstrate stewardship of our facilities in a manner that creates lasting value for our families. |
The greatest resource that Western Christian has is its teachers. The Legacy fund provides for the retention of highly qualified teachers by increasing the teacher endowment fund and providing technological and curricular resources.
Spiritual growth is promoted through the Legacy fund through staffing, curriculum, and outreach opportunities. We have a clear vision for our students to excel in academics, persevere in athletics, and develop creative self-expression through art, drama and music. But most importantly, we strive for authentic spiritual development rooted in the infallibility of scripture and the inspiration of God’s calling in their life.
Nothing is more important to us than our students, your children. They are the reason we are passionate about what we do. Your contributions will support a viable enrollment through increased financial aid for our families.
Each new year brings opportunities for stewardship over what the Lord has provided. The dream of a place to call our own has come true with the purchase of the Upland campus. Legacy funds will help to create lasting value for our students by maximizing the use of our facilities through developments such as our new football field and other important renovations on both campuses.
As a former student and current parent, I understand the longstanding value of the investment in Western Christian. This is not simply a place for one generation of students, but it also becomes a school home to children and grandchildren of each generation. God has blessed our school for many years, and I strongly believe that he will continue to do so. Please prayerfully consider joining us for a special night of fellowship to celebrate the Legacy of Western.
