Western offers a variety of Honors and Advanced Placement courses. These classes prepare students for AP® exams and introduce students to college level rigor in high school.

Western Christian faculty and staff are comprised of committed Christians who model their faith in Jesus Christ by living out their calling. Our teachers are experts in their academic disciplines who are dedicated to loving every student because they believe that every student is made in God’s image and has a valuable purpose. Western Christian High School teachers know that their students were made for more.
More than 85% of WCHS teachers have Masters Degrees or higher.

Diploma Programs

Students at Western Christian High School have the opportunity to complete one of three different programs to satisfy graduation requirements: High School Program, College Preparatory Program, Alpha Honors Program. The diplomas which are granted by Western Christian High School will indicate the particular program which the students have completed.

  • Alpha Honors Diploma Program Requirements

    Alpha Honors Diploma Program Requirements
    Honors course credit count towards their non-honors equivalent.
     
    The Alpha Honors Diploma Program is for students who wish to exceed College Preparatory A-G requirements and complete a series of advanced Honors and AP courses within multiple subject areas.
     
    General Requirements
    1. Students must attend eight semesters, grades 9-12
    2. Students must complete a minimum of 260 credits
    3. Students must earn a cumulative 3.5 weighted grade point average
    4. Students must follow the specified “honors track” in two of the following subjects:
      English, Math, Science, or Social Science
     
    Specific Requirements
    • Bible (40 credits*)
      Bible 9, Bible 10, Bible 11, Bible 12
    • Social Science (30 credits) "A"
      World History, US history, and US Government & Economics
    • English (40 credits) "B"
      English 9, English 10, English 11 (or AP Language & Composition), English 12 (or AP Literature & Composition)
    • Math (20 credits) "C"
      The minimum requirement is Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and either Precalculus or Statistics. Math courses taken in the 7th and 8th grades that are accepted as equivalent by Western Christian High School may be used to fulfill a part of this requirement.
    • Laboratory Science (30 credits) "D"
      Three years of laboratory science including Biology and Chemistry.
    • Modern Language (30 credits) "E"
      Three years of the same language other than English. Courses taken in the 7th and 8th grades may be used to fulfill part of this requirement if accepted by Western Christian High School as an equivalent to courses.
    • Visual and Performing Arts (10 credits) "F"
    • College Preparatory Elective (10 credits) "G"
      Freshmen must take Speech.
    • Electives (10 credits)
      Includes courses beyond those used to satisfy the requirements above, or courses that have been approved elective classes.
     
    *Limited Bible course credits may be waived for transfer students.
     
     
    Honors Track Requirements
    Within 2 subject areas, 3 of the following courses (6 total) must be completed. Students must earn semester grades of B- or better in their selected Honors Track courses. Students must be enrolled in the AP course available in their selected Honors Tracks during their senior year.

    College Preparatory Diploma Program Requirements
    Honors course credit count towards their non-honors equivalent.
     
    Colleges want to know that you have taken the kinds of classes that will prepare you to do well when you arrive at their campus. Which courses they count and which they don’t might vary from one college to another, so the best way to be sure that you are eligible at any college you might want to apply to is to satisfy the UC and CSU’s required courses. These are known as the A-G requirements. If you satisfy them, you will have the courses you need to meet the basic eligibility requirements for almost any university. 
     
    General Requirements
    1. Students must attend eight semesters, grades 9-12
    2. Students must complete a minimum of 260 credits
    3. Students must earn a C- or better in all required courses
    4. Students must earn a cumulative 2.5 weighted grade point average

      Two years of the same language other than English. Courses taken in the 7th and 8th grades may be used to fulfill part of this requirement if accepted by Western Christian High School as an equivalent to courses. A third year of Modern Language is recommended.
    • Visual and Performing Arts (10 credits) "F"
    • College Preparatory Elective (10 credits) "G"

      Includes courses beyond those used to satisfy the requirements above, or courses that have been approved elective classes.
