College-Bound Graduates

I am confident that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.

The College and Career Guidance Center

The goal of the WCHS College and Career Guidance Center is to lead every student on a journey to explore God’s plan for their life. This guidance informs decisions made in high school that match students’ strengths and abilities with opportunities for university admittance. With the full support of a highly qualified staff, students take challenging courses, become involved in a multitude of activities, and receive numerous honors. As they are pushed to excel in all they do, students experience true joy knowing that God has created them with value, meaning, and purpose.

As a result, students are admitted to outstanding colleges and universities across the nation.

The WCHS College Prep Program Includes:

List of 11 items.

  • AP Courses & Honors Courses

Advanced Placement courses provide students the opportunity to earn college credit and/or qualify students for more advanced classes at the university level. Taking an AP class (or several!) is a great way to challenge yourself academically and show colleges that you are serious about your education. An AP class on your transcript signals stronger academic training, especially with high passing scores of 4 and 5 on the test.

Honors courses are higher-level classes that proceed at a faster pace and cover more material than regular classes. Honors classes are usually reserved for talented high school students who excel in certain subjects. Passing an honors class is an excellent way for high school students to demonstrate their academic competency and discipline to college admissions boards.

Both AP and Honors Courses give students a “bump” in their Grade Point Average. These courses are valued on a 5-point scale offering students the opportunity to earn above a 4.0 GPA.
  • UC & NCAA Approval

All WCHS courses are submitted and approved by the University of California and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. This ensures that student transcript courses have been pre-approved to qualify students for admittance to the university system.
  • UC ELC Program

Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) is a program through the University of California system that identifies the top 9% of high school students and places them in a UC school. The ELC Program is looking for students who are academically talented and California residents. Being part of the ELC Program adds value to your UC application.
